Located
in a quiet, rural setting, well away from any major
roads, the course provides a calm and peaceful environment
where birdsong and abundant wildlife may be enjoyed
– as well as a satisfying game of golf. Many lovely
mature trees, an attractive water feature, and a couple
of becks that thread their way through the southern
part of the course, combine to create a scenic golf
course with interesting natural hazards. Whilst the
Howardian Hills rise close by to the north, the course
itself is at the northern edge of the Vale of York and
is relatively flat.
The
18 holes extend to 6699 yards off the white tees, with
PAR being 73 and SSS 72. Off the yellows it’s
6538 yards, PAR 74 and SSS72, and from the reds 5858
yards, PAR 73, SSS 75. There are four par 5 holes (five
off the yellows, four off the reds) and three par 3s,
plenty of strategically placed sand traps, interesting
dog-legs and tight fairways lined with trees. The course
rewards the straight hitter but penalises the wayward.
